A lovely comfortable pair of vented trousers in a flattering cut which afford you the luxury of keeping wonderfully cool when outside its anything but.

Cool Vented Trouser

Initial Thoughts

For the last decade or so I have always had a preference for trousers cut with a bootcut bottom so when these trousers arrived I was initially slightly disappointed that these did not have an option of this appearance as so many textile trousers do, however when trying the trousers on I was actually really pleasantly surprised with what a flattering cut the straight leg was.

They are very light and comfortable and fitted nicely all over, and when riding you got very welcome and pleasant breeze around the thighs and bottoms of the legs (which would have been even better in shorter boots!), perfect on a warm summers day ride and when I took a break from riding they still kept me at a lovely temperature so I wasn't all sticky and uncomfortable when riding resumed. Even when things did get a little blustery the trousers succeeded in shielding me from becoming cold.

The trousers are only available in black and come in 7 sizes. I personally would also love to see them available in a lighter colour too as black attracts the heat when stationary so a lighter shade might keep you even cooler (and would look awesome with the ladies aero jacket).

Construction

The Sierra trousers are made from the same 3m Scotchlite Reflective Fibre Tech Material as the Ladies Aero Jacket I also had the privilege of testing. Mesh panels stretch from below the knee to the ankle and also have mesh panels on the thigh.

Fitted with CE armour at the knees they offer good protection to the rider and these are adjustable in height. Pockets have been built into the fixed mesh lining for hip armour if required. The trousers have stretch panels above knees and zip up from ankle to below knee to allow easy fitting over boots with Velcro at the bottom to secure.

There are also 2 zip pockets on either side of the trousers and they fasten with a zip and popper and have adjustable Velcro straps either side of the waist for individual fitting.

- Adjustable Flexi-Form ® (CE approved) knee armour,
- Hip foam,
- High abrasion resistant ® FibreTech.

- Mesh ® for optimal outside ventilation,
- Fixed mesh lining,
- Abrasion resistant areas on the hips,
- Large outside pockets.

Conclusion

Vented trousers feel more of a necessity now for me in hot weather, although we don't get loads of it in the UK its just lovely to ride and feel the breeze around your legs whilst knowing you are still safe and sound with CE armour where its most needed should the worst happen.

These are great trousers for long summer rides especially if you are going somewhere where you might be getting of the bike to walk around and don't want to boil whilst stationary as you so often would in standard textiles or leathers. Even managed to keep my knees much less sticky than usual in 25 degrees warmth which once you have experienced it is a luxury well worth paying for!
