Mid price range with a wide variety of graphic options and good ventilation makes the KBC Force RR a very popular helmet.

Popular Mid-Range Helmet

Initial Thoughts

Until trying this lid I had always been told 'get the most expensive one that fits your head' and as a result I was expecting very little from it, infact I had kind of expected it to be cheap in both looks and construction - I was pleasantly surprised.

Lets just set this one on the table right now, you dont have to buy the most expensive helmet you can find, in fact if you are spending hundreds on an ill fitting lid you can expect it to not be as good for you as a cheaper but better fitting model... The best helmet for you is the one that fits you snugly without compressing your head or leaving too much movement.

Construction

The KBC Force range is made from a specially selected mix of advanced impact resistant thermo alloyresins, the FFR shell is produced using the latest injection molding technology for the highest degree of shell integrity, consistency and durability, while it is not the lightest helmet I have tried it is comfortable and it is certainly not a heavy item - in fact many miles have been happily clocked up while wearing this lid.

Ventilation wise it comes with a 12 point ventilation system that keeps your head nice and cool when it is required, however in colder temperatures the visor does have a tendency to mist up and the integral breath guard is not as effective as you might want. Nevertheless this is not as much of an issue as it is with other helmets I have tried over the years and it is easily rectifiable with the addition of a third party breath guard.

Features:

Powercore Shell–Constructed using the latest injection molding technology resulting in a lightweight helmet. Using a specially selected mix of advanced impact resistant thermo alloy resins, the FFR shell is produced using the latest injection molding technology for the highest degree of shell integrity, consistency and durability.

DIVS – Dual-intake ventilation system, incorporates the latest technology to efficiently draw, circulate, vent and control airflow providing ultimate comfort

Duralux Interior – The interior liner is an easily removable padding system, offering excellent cushioning. This is combined with the airnet guaze, a micro fiber material integrated into the front and rear of the liner, promoting optimum breathing and circulation to deliver maximum comfort.

QRV– The VR3 features an optically correct complex curve 2.2mm scratch resistant visor and also utilizes KBC’s one step tool, the Quick Release Visor plus system and seals securely when closed to the helmets RIB System.

Safety – Core comprised of high density impact absorbing EPS. It meets and exceeds the EC22.05 and ACU gold standards

After wearing the KBC Force RR helmet for a while the internal padding can become quite compacted and as a result will lose its firm fit on the head, this is obviously dependant on how much of a hard time you give it so your mileage may vary.

Conclusion

The KBC Force RR helmet is a nice mid-priced helmet for those of you on a budget but looking for a well established and reputed brand, fit appears to be good and ventilation for warmer days is certainly up to the mark, the paint finish is of a good quality and if you are looking for unusual graphics you will find them within the range available. Road noise is quite high when the going gets good but earplugs are generally recommended when wearing a helmet anyway. In terms of safety it seems to hit the mark quite well, a double D-Ring strap is standard fitment and the visor seems to be secure, it is also worth mentioning that removal of the visor is a simple task. For the money the KBC is certainly worth a look in.
