Amazingly versatile boot from Sidi that sets it apart in the waterproof/touring boot market, the Black Rain Evo boot is well made and does its job perfectly.

Superb touring and all round boot

Initial Thoughts

TheSidi Black Rain Evo boot is touted as Sidi's best ever selling boot andits not hard to see why, the impression it gives instantly is of alightweight but functional boot that is both well designed andmanufactured. This is the fully waterproof offering aimed for customerslooking for a touring or everyday boot rather than the typical raceystyle that Sidi is so well known for.

Construction

Constructedfrom Lorica, the Black Rain Evo has a fully waterproof exterior thatactually work! Inside is a Tepor breathable membrane to help counteractthe stuffiness usually found when wearing waterproof riding boots, infact other than the hottest of days you might want for no other boot.On first trying on the boot I noticed it was extremely light, especially in comparison to some of my husband's race boots, the fitwas comfortable too and when on my feet they looked every bit the Sidiboot they are meant to be.

Aimed toward a more touring orientedrider or indeed for the cold wet winters they are no slacker inprotection, the ankle is armoured and padded and the sole is made of apetrol resistant material to counteract slipping, sure they dont comewith external armour or toe sliders but when you are looking for anunderstated everyday boot you really dont miss these things.

Onto its forte, the Blackrain evo's were tested during a particularly wetMAG rally in July 2007, they were so comfortable that they pretty muchremained on my feet the whole weekend and despite the torrentialdownpours and deep puddles they never let a single drop of water in -adding to that, my feet stayed fresh all weekend proving the Teporlining does its job and does it well.

Conclusion

To really spell out my final conclusion on these boots, they have remained my favourite and most worn bike boots for over 15 months and they are still like new, still fresh inside and still waterproof.

Not only are they the most comfortable boots I own but my feet do not get claustrophobic while wearing them, in short these are perhaps the perfect set of boots for those of you not looking for a full race styled boot.

The only gripe I have had in the entire time is that the velcro fastening over the zip on the left boot became frayed recently, it still closes but not with as much grip, nevertheless the storm flap on the inside makes sure that the water stays out and that is good enough for me - especially in the wet and cold climate that appears to have been 2007 and the start to 2008.
