Bonneville gets a racy makeover

Racy makeover for the Bonneville Racy makeover for the Bonneville Norman Hyde
Although it is named after the Bonneville Salt Flats in the USA, where Triumph made attempts on the world motorcycle speed records, the 'Bonnie' enjoyed considerable success on the Isle of Man, where Malcolm Uphill scored his famous victory in the 1969 Senior TT on a factory prepared Bonneville, recording an average lap time of 99.99 mph.
Norman Hyde, (who was working in Triumph's Experimental Department in 1969), produces a range of styling accessories for the modern 'Hinckley' Bonneville that capture the appearance and spirit of the racing motorcycles from the 1960's. Bodywork parts include a fairing designed to accept the original headlamp, (at £433.58 including VAT), single seat unit (£276.13) and race profile front & rear mudguards (£185.65), all made from high gloss self colour fibreglass and supplied with fittings.

A matching rear light sells for £42.30. Fitting Hyde's alloy rear set footrest kit (£258.50) and ace handlebars (£47.00 ) helps to create a sportier riding position, while a bar end mirror (£52.29) will be a useful safety feature that won't detract from the racing look. Completing the look and feel with an authentic 'Brit twin' sound, owners can choose from TX silencers that are modelled on the original Triumph race pipes (£364.25 as pictured) or the reverse cone peashooter type (£334.88), both suitable for carburettor and fuel-injected machines. For the ultimate finishing touch, Hyde offers a hand made alloy petrol tank. Produced exclusively by the company that made many of the tanks for the factory racers, this is a pedigree item. Supplied with all mountings, including the race type rubber strap, the TX tank costs £821.33.
