If you have ever had an accident on your motorcycle you will no doubt carry a little baggage from the experience whether that is toward certain vehicles, road surfaces, weather conditions - basically anything that you feel might have been a contributing factor to your incident. When this happens you try to adjust your riding or even back it off a little to add a buffer zone in case of a problem, my day at California Superbike School was all about seeing if this could be altered or removed.

Whether you’re looking to improve your road craft or track technique there is plenty of choice when it comes to advanced rider training, from race schools to ROSPA. However there is only one organisation that is entirely dedicated to the art of cornering. Founded in California by Keith Code in the 1980’s, his school’s original purpose was to help superbike racers to improve their lap times – hence the name.

California Superbike School term starts on 5th April 2010 with a 2-day camp at the world-famous Jerez circuit in Southern Spain – a great opportunity to ride the same track as MotoGP riders and to enjoy some Spanish sun. UK courses commence at Silverstone on 22nd April, with a further 19 dates at either Silverstone or Brands Hatch, until the last day of term on 12th September.

For the first time since the UK arm of the Superbike school opened in 1996, it will offer an exclusively female session for riders looking to experience Level One coaching.

Andy Ibbott UK School Director; "We ran a 'Ladies only' day in South Africa earlier this year, which was hugely successful, and we have had calls for similar here in the UK. Around 10% of students who attend our schools are female, but there are many more out there who would like training but feel intimidated by a track environment with guys out there."

News has reached us that rider training supremo Andy Ibbott of California Superbike School has suffered a stroke following a medical procedure recently, Andy is an incredibly positive and upbeat chap and we doubt that even a stroke will keep him down for long so it is no surprise that this is looking to be the case -we hope you will join us in leaving your comments on the CSS website (linked in the article).
Yes you read right folks - California Superbike School is offering students an opportunity to be among the first to ride in their new schools in Abu Dhabi at the now famous Yas Marina circuit (as used for the last round of the 2009 F1 Championship). To make it even more interesting, students will be riding at night!
