Proud Mum, Sharon, who submitted the dream has already seen her son win five titles in his four-year racing career, including 70 race wins in 81 race starts, but Joe’s sights are set on a much bigger prize with ambitions to contest the world-class MotoGP series in the future and emulate the success of his hero Casey Stoner. However, for the time being, the Chester-based family, who were struggling with the growing costs of their son’s racing career, are delighted that they can guarantee that Joe will at least be able to complete this season.
The Chester racer’s bike, leathers and helmet will display Bennetts’ logos for the rest of 2011 to acknowledge the help provided by this year’s Bennetts Biker Dreams campaign.
A grateful Sharon said: “Our family has no background in racing and we don’t really know how everything works, but Joe loves it and he seems to be really good at it, so we feel it’s our duty as parents to help him achieve as much as he possibly can if that’s what he wants to do. Racing makes him so happy and he’s a natural but it can be very expensive to fund a whole season. The money from Bennetts, in addition to some other help that we’ve received, means that we can definitely attend every race for the rest of the season to give Joe a chance at winning the championship.”
Joe added: “I’d heard about Bennetts Biker Dreams but I wasn’t old enough to enter so I told my Mum about it. She didn’t tell me she entered until Bennetts called to tell her that they were going to help us. I can’t thank them enough for their support and I hope I can do them proud when I get back out on track.”
Bennetts Associate Director, Hannah Squirrell, added: “Bennetts has a strong history of supporting British talent with sponsorships of James Toseland, Cal Crutchlow and Scott Redding, but it’s great to be able to help such a promising young rider as Joe at such an early stage in his career. The Bennetts Biker Dreams campaign is about rewarding people with a passion for biking and, without doubt, Joe and his family fit the bill. Bennetts are looking to support other young and talented riders who should get in touch via Facebook.”
