Dunlop to sponsor GSX-R Trophy

Dunlops all new D211 tyre - the new control tyre for GSX-R Trophy Dunlops all new D211 tyre - the new control tyre for GSX-R Trophy Dunlop
Dunlop has been announced as the title sponsor of the ACU Suzuki GSX-R Trophy. The leading tyre manufacturer has set up a one year deal with the ACU to become the title sponsor for the championship. The championship, which runs from March to October, is designed to allow people to race at a high level on a limited budget. It is open to any level of rider and is both competitive and great fun.
The Trophy aims at entering people into the sport and retaining them, as well as providing enjoyment for all involved. The decision to become title sponsor of the series became apparent when the racers from the series were offered the chance to rid the championship of a control tyre and opening it up to any manufacturer. The championship had traditionally used Dunlop as their control tyre. All of the racers within the series chose to stay with Dunlop due to the overall performance and the belief in the product.

Spokesperson for Dunlop, Kate Rock said: “Dunlop were honoured that all of the Suzuki GSX-R riders decided that they wanted to stay with Dunlop’s as their control tyre for the series. It felt like a natural fit for us to become the title sponsor.” “This year we are able to offer the riders a normal road going tyre as their control tyre. The riders previously rode on the D209 but at the end of last year we launched the GP Racer D211.

This tyre uses the same technologies that appear in the D209 but also uses NTEC, developed at Dunlop Motorsport, the technology allows the rear tyre to run very low pressures (an extraordinary 17psi) on track providing incredible grip” “Dunlop is heavily involved with a number of championships in bike, motocross and car racing and the Suzuki GSX-R Trophy adds yet another string to the Dunlop bow” Kate concluded. Dave Luscombe, Business Development Manager at the ACU said: “The ACU is once again glad to team up with Dunlop as the title sponsor of the ever growing GSX-R Trophy.

After the stunning response to Dunlop from the championship riders we couldn’t think of a better brand to be our title sponsor. Dunlop will also aid us in promoting the championship nationally and help us to grow.”
