Over 150 guests witnessed the World’s largest ever gathering of Desmosedici owners at Donington Park as 45 Desmosedicis from all over Europe took to the track.

This exclusive Desmosedici-only track day saw owners from UK, Germany, Switzerland, Holland and France congregate at the Derbyshire track for an historic day boosted by perfect weather.

A number of special guests were present adding to the wonderful day. Alan Jenkins, Desmosedici designer, gave a seminar giving an insight into the production and development of this unique machine. Ernesto Marinelli, the Superbike technical director, gave a presentation on the Ducati Corse organisation and Donington Circuit owner, Simon Gillett, presented the development plans for the Donington circuit.

Off course the main focus of the day was the incredible bike itself and the Desmosedici owners enjoyed nearly two and a half hours of track time on the full GP circuit with optional one to one training from DRE instructors that included ex racers David James, Marco Luchinelli and Dario Marchetti.

Donington Park will host the second round of the 2011 World Superbike Championship in just over two weeks time. With everything still to play for, the six Brits on the grid are busy preparing for battle and hoping to impress in front of the home crowd on Sunday 27 March. Local lad Leon Haslam got off to a flying start at Philip Island, Australia, securing his first podium of the season to finish round one as the highest-placed British rider. The former British Superbike Champion has a solid WSBK track record at Donington having secured a second place in 2009 behind eventual champion Ben Spies.
As motorsport fans celebrate the return of Donington Park to the 2011 season calendars, the Leicestershire circuit has unveiled an updated logo reflecting the beginning of a brand-new era for the iconic venue. The innovative design retains an element of the historic blue oval that is so recognisable, while also representing the exciting times ahead for the revamped circuit. The legendary track at Donington Park is back at its best and ready to host the thrilling racing action that has placed it firmly in the hearts of two-wheel and four-wheel race enthusiasts from across the globe.
Donington Park will play host to Thundersport GB Donington Superbike Masters this weekend, giving spectators the chance to see the motorcycle racing stars of the future in action. Round two of the series includes a number of classes allowing young riders to get to grips with racing and develop their potential talent. Classes such as the Aprilia Superteens have honed the skills of some of the world’s leading racers – including former MotoGP champion Casey Stoner and double World Superbike champion James Toseland.

As the first full-season of competitive action back at Donington Park nears its end for the year, the Leicestershire venue is delighted to announce the launch of its completely redesigned website specifically built to help race fans and visitors get more advanced information for everything that happens at the legendary circuit. Built by web experts Quiet-Storm Solutions, based locally in Whitick, the new site offers advanced information on all upcoming races, detailed information on track days, general testing and driver experience days, corporate requirements such as hospitality and venue hire, while benefiting at the same time from easy and enjoyable navigation.

The World Superbike Championship returns to Donington Park this weekend after a year-long absence and we are delighted to offer you a preview video of the event. Four of the British riders on the grid – Jonathan Rea, Tom Sykes, Eugene Laverty and Leon Camier – give their perspective on the championship returning to the venue where the inaugural SBK event was held in 1988. The video also contains footage from the 2009 races at Donington Park - the last time the World Superbike Championship visited the circuit.

Donington Park is delighted to confirm that for the second year running it will host the European round of the FIM Superbike World Championship, scheduled to take place between the 11th and 13th May 2012. Following the return of World Superbike to Donington earlier this year, after a period of uncertainty for the Leicestershire venue, the commitment from World SBK promoter Infront Motor Sports, truly signifies Donington's return to world championship event status.
