Weise Climate Textile Jacket - review
I actually made a mistake ordering the climate jacket originally and went for a size larger as I was expecting it to come up too tight - I was totally wrong and the larger jacket was just that bit too big for my liking, hats off to Weise though for their speedy exchange on the smaller size. The Climate follows the Tristar in being a rather good looking jacket throughout and with Weise's reputation for quality I was looking forward to giving it a good test.
Comfy Climate
Initial Thoughts
Initial error of sizing out of the way I soon got the replacement jacket and after trying it on it fitted beautifully with elbow and shoulder armour in the right places and enough room for the removable thermal quilted layer when it gets nippy, the funky thin membrane between the lining and outer appears to be an Isotex waterproof, windproof and breathable lining and despite going out in some dismal conditions I have to say it seems to do the trick quite nicely.
Also aiding a warm and dry experience is the Weise WRS, essentially this is internal guttering that takes any ingress of water and channels it out through the base of the jacket - a nifty little feature indeed! While I am on the inside of the jacket I will point out something i did find disappointing and that is the internal pocket, a stitched on open topped pocket with a velcro pad - come on Weise where is the zipped internal pocket?? I know a lot of riders do not trust external pockets to be waterproof for phones and other electricals and tend to rely heavily on their zipped internal pocket for keeping things secure, just a small blot on the overall opinion of the Weise Climate jacket.
Construction
The internal pocket aside though the Weise Climate textile does come with twin zipped, flapped and pop studded waterproof external pockets with plenty of room and easy access along with two chest pockets - or are they vents? Or are they both?
That confused me a little as they come with waterproof zips and mesh pocket liner but they are not really in a position I would normally use to store items, that said though they do make great vents and had the Climate jacket featured a shoulder/back vent the airflow would have been immense, I didnt get the chance to use the vents too much though as the weather tended to be either wet or blustery, on the occasion that I did put them into use they seemed to work as expected although without the rear vent they did inflate the jacket a little too.
The overall finish on the Climate is very good indeed, as I have come to expect from Weise, with a nice durable 500 denier nylon outer and YKK zips throughout it is the little touches that stood out from the norm, one such item is the neoprene collar and cuff that makes a huge difference comfort wise and the first time you slip it on it becomes noticable what you have missed out on - little details but they can make such a massive impact.

Conclusion
The Weise Climate jacket is actually a rather nice jacket with overall nice construction but for me it has to drop a point for two small issues, one is the lack of a zipped internal pocket and secondly the waist adjusters had a tendancy to make the jacket rise while riding if they were tightened too much.
That said though it is a waterproof all season jacket that is up to the job, with removable quilted liner it is suitable in the cold too and the Weise WRS (water release system) is a great touch.
The front vent/pocket detail is a little confusing to me though with the pockets being no good as pockets if you are using the vents and so on, if you just use the front waterproof pockets you negate any confusion and it makes the Weise Climate a decent jacket and at a pretty good price.
