Fantastic looking, comfortable and very flattering. I really can not rate these trousers highly enough.

Sexy Stylish Trousers

Initial Thoughts

I was really excited when these trousers arrived from Feridax. On the hanger I could tell I was going to love the way the looked. Then slight panic set in – this was my own fault as I am a size ten in trousers and 10-12 in Jeans I ordered a small trouser.

The trousers come with a fixed mesh lining and a further thermal lining inside for those really chilly days and with that in I had no chance! I unzipped and removed the lining and managed to get into them and they did give a little with wearing, and even though a little tight they were extremely comfortable, and appeared to flatten my bottom and slim my legs.

I love the bootleg flared bottoms to these trousers as they give the illusion of your legs appearing longer, and you can unzip them up the sides to the knees to help make them fit easily over boots and “free your knees” when the weather is warm. The adjustable knee armour is great too as you make them fit just right for your individual height.

The trousers don't have any ventilation in them but even in 25 degrees temperatures I didn't overheat unless at a standstill for a prolonged period or in direct sunlight, on the whole they just kept me at a nice consistent temperature and when testing in rain were water resistant and I had no leaks. Although not the cheapest textile trousers on the market I think they are excellent value for money, you can tell a lot of thought has been put into the design of these trousers to make them good looking, practical and safe for the rider.

The only very small criticism I have of the trousers if I really think about it is they are not the easiest to zip to the jacket, this is due to the flexibelt at the waist which is a great feature but makes the placement of the zip a little fiddly.

This is my favourite pair of textile trousers I have thus far reviewed, my only slight regret is that I didn't go a size larger so I could wear them over other trousers or with the lining in during winter again this is down to my fittment nothing to do with the trousers and its only because I love them that I care.

Construction

The Macna Mystic Trousers are made from Ballistic and C-Touch materials, fitted with Heatshield leg panels to protect the legs from engine and exhaust heat, they are also as you would expect fully waterproof and all the seams are single stitched.

They come with removable foam padding in pockets in the hips, and removable adjustable CE armour in the knee allowing them to be fitted to the individual which makes them more comfortable and reduces rubbing.

As with the rest of the Macna range they are fitted with a fixed mesh lining and a further thermal layer which zips in at the top and the bottom which means no scratchy Velcro to worry about. There are 2 Water resistant pockets on the trousers, 1 on either side and they zip up with a hook and eye fitting at the top and Velcro.

The trousers have what's called a Flexibelt which means the waist has 2 layers one which covers the small of your back and an inner panel which fits close to the skin, the outer panel can be adjusted with Velcro on either slide for your comfort and added support.

The curiously named Side-eye reflection system means that the trousers have reflective panels on either side. These are heat transferred onto the trousers so not made from a different material. On these particular trousers they are found at the bottom on either side.

Due to the sandwich layering system of the Macna range if the trousers are zipped to a Macna jacket as mine were for the review the outer shell waterproof layer of the trousers zips directly to the inner liner of the jacket so there is no way for any water to find its way in if it rains.

These trousers do not have Air vents but do unzip and flare out to the knee so can be loosened to make them easier to fit over boots and for comfort when stationary or just walking about and are fastened into place when riding with 2 Velcro straps under the knee armour and at the bottoms of the ankle of desired.

These trousers are available in 5 sizes XS (UK8) to XL (UK16).

Conclusion

A great looking, stylish, comfortable pair of textile trousers which are good value for money if you are looking for something functional yet very flattering.

These will definitely keep you toasty and warm during windy colder weather and nice and dry in the rain as I found out. In warmer weather although not as cool as vented trousers I found they didn't leave me too hot and sticky either.

If you want to be able to wear other trousers or the thermal layer I would suggest if you believe you are between sizes for normal trousers as I do I would suggest you swallow your pride and go for the larger size.

arc-on Evolution Leather Suit and Gloves

Over at arc-on the previous seasons suits have seen a redesign and launch in the form of the Evolution suit, available in one or two piece formats, and the new Evolution glove to match. Previous years experience in racing have given them a decent spec sheet to sing from, even if you name is not one that you have seen before, considering that a load.
